Family Tree

This Tree sprung from the roots of Stanford and Josephine Jones.

Together they bore ten children, plus three additional. If she was asked how many children, Josephine would say thirteen, not only by words, but by the way she treats us she made no difference between us.

Josephine was a god fearing woman who used prayer as the foundation of her life. Because of her spirituality and her children, she spared the rod and spoiled us. No, not under her watch as she wore an apron with a pocket and in that pocket was a strap name “save me stomach.”

Shortly before her passing, she said these words. “I’m leaving for you all, that is my love. Keep it among you and then extend it to others.”

Stanford, also known as Dadda, on the other hand, was a good father and very proud of his children. He made sure we went to school, that we’d never go hungry, and that no one take advantage of us. During his life time, he was very comical and outspoken. People respected him. “Uncle Sandy,” he was called as children, we should be proud of the tree from which we sprung.
